With a few treats, a few training sessions, a dog, some space, and a lot of patience, you can teach a dog to do just about anything.
I was in the 4-H Dog Club in Evansville, IN, for two years in elementary school. Part of being in that club is learning how to train your dog. I learned how to teach my lovely beagle/lab mix, Smiley, to heel, sit, stay, come, lay down, stand, and run an agility course. With practice, I’ve learned how to teach her to do tricks, too.
I’m going to post for a few days on how to teach specific commands: heel, come, sit, stay, lay down, roll over, play dead, count, and dance.
