Here’s an interesting question that came up in reading class a few weeks ago: When does Y say “E”? Well it turns out that there is a basic rule you can teach your kids but remember that, with all American English rules, there are exceptions.
1.)Y says “E” if the word has 2 syllables….
Examples of this are: party, happy, Emily and Frosty.
2.)If the Y is in the first syllable of a word but not the first letter.
