It’s Five-Minute Friday again! This is the day a bunch of us get together and write without stopping for a full five minutes on an assigned topic. The prompt is assigned by Lisa-Jo at thegypsymama.com It’s really fun to see what everyone comes up with. Take a few minutes an check it out. You just might decide to join in!
This has taken me a long time today to get focused on so I’m just going to write and let things happen as they may.
I have been thinking about communities all morning and have finally given up. I can’t think of anything to say about them except that we all need them.
Your community is your support system. For some of us they are those people that you can call at any hour day or night and cry and they will listen to you. They are those people that will tell you the truth in love and you will love them even more for doing it.
For some people, community is the place you live. What surrounds you. For me they are one and the same. What you surround yourself with is what makes you who you are.
For some people, your community is your neighborhood. The people that live in those houses nearest you. The people your kids go to school with. For some people, that’s as far as they get. They don’t become their community, they live on the outside of it.
I think more and more off us are doing that these days. We seldom meet our neighbors anymore or chat on the porch as they walk their dog past.
If that’s you, slow down. Reach out. Become a part of your communty.
Sorry. Times up! And I just started to get into it.
