Where She Went

I just finished the sequel to Gayle Forman‘s If I Stay. It was amazing! When I read If I Stay, I didn’t think there would be a sequel because of how perfectly the book ended. Then I heard about Where She Went, and I finally got my hands on a copy.

It was just as good as the first book, if not better. The commentary from Adam’s POV instead of Mia’s threw my off at first, but then I got it: this isn’t just the sequel, it’s Adam’s story, his side of everything, the way If I Stay was Mia’s. The characterization, the descriptions of people and situations and places, the pure emotion of the book pulled me in.

I especially loved the way the ‘lyrics’ from Adam’s ‘album’ tied into what was happening in the story, how they showed the emotions that he wouldn’t show any other way, to anyone. It almost made me wish that the group, the lyrics, were real, just so I could hear the songs, hear the music that the characters love so much.

Gayle Forman is an amazing writer, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I found out that there was another book in the works, just because I can’t imagine leaving the story so neatly and full of hope and promise a second time.

About Emily

I'm Mrs. Kim's daughter, a sophomore in high school right now. I love to read and write. I enjoy working on computers and cars (did you know that an air bubble in your hydraulic brakes can ruin your braking completely? - until a mechanic bleeds it out, anyway). I also love dogs and horses.
